Breeding high quality East Germany dogs is a passion, not a business. Konigsdorf Shepherds was registered with Schutzhund USA in 1982. Dogs were transported across the Berlin Wall by private owners prior to 1989 when the Berlin Wall fell. At that time I was working as a paramedic I had a DDR wilderness search dog. That dog was deemed lacking in ball drive and food drive and unsuitable for the job. However what he lacked in those drives he made up in character, he was intensively loyal and would work without stopping as long as I needed him to work. He was bombproof in character and brutally healthy. This dog is what started my interest in breeding East German dog and continues this day.

We were honored to have 4 dogs that searched at the New York Disaster zone on 9/11. This shows nerve strength that cannot be trained. We have dogs on the NYS police, Warren County Sheriffs, Vermont State police. We have numerous dogs that are diabetic alert dogs, cardiac alert dogs, and Bobby who finds tree nuts in food for his young owner. These dogs are intensely bonded to their family members and naturally alter at signs of distress or difficulty.

All dogs used for breeding at Konigsdorf shepherds are x-rayed, DM neg/neg and Embark tested. We will NOT breed a DM carrier. We also will NOT breed a dog we will not own as a personal dog. Many of our females are raised in private homes. Contact us if this is of interest to you.
